October Nonprofits

This month, Calico Corners is donating to CHIRLA and Women in Charge. At checkout, you will have the option to send your full donation amount to one of these nonprofits or to split it evenly among all four nonprofits. Of course, you can always donate directly through the links below. The top five donors will be emailed a prize so keep an eye on your inbox!

As always, 10% of profits will be donated at the end of the month.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights

CHIRLA's mission is to advance the rights of immigrants by organizing communities in the California area, advocating for immigrant rights, fighting for fair labor laws, and educating immigrants and refugees of their rights. They've done some great things in the fight for humane immigrant rights. You can learn more about their story below.

Women in Charge

Women in Charge commits to help women build independence by providing high school courses to adults looking to complete a HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) exam. they also provide an ESL (English Second Language) course and tutoring to help women further their education and career. Donate to help rescued animals

  • Spicy Cats Rescue

    Spicy Cats Rescue dedicates themselves to helping special needs cats in Maine. They offer help through rescue, rehabilitation, hospice, adoption, and TNR. They currently need donations to help them move to a larger facility.

  • Animal House Project

    One of the largest reasons for pet surrenders is financial hardship. The Animal House Project's mission is to keep pets in homes by providing families in need with pet food and directing them to affordable vet care. Since 2013, the Animal House Project has donated over 5.5 million pounds of food to pets and 4 million pounds to disaster related rescues.

How are donations split between nonprofits?

10% of profits are donated every month. At checkout, you will have the option to choose the nonprofit that you want your donation to support, or you may choose to split your donation evenly between all four nonprofits.

If you split your donation, the 10% will be evenly divided between each of the four nonprofits. If you do not fill out the form at all, your donation will be split evenly.

Does Calico Corner match donations?

Not yet! Calico Corner does not currently match donations, but that is a major goal for the future. When matching donations becomes a financial possibility, our lovely members will be the first to know, probably with a celebratory sale!

Can I suggest a monthly nonprofit?

Of course! You can email mal@calicocorner.shop with your suggestion and it may be added to next month's nonprofits. If you don't see your suggestion, don't worry! All suggestions are added to a list. We will get to it eventually.

How do I know Calico Corner really donates?

At the end of the month, all email subscribers are sent a proof of donation email. This includes the total amount donated to each nonprofit and the total number of donators. Subscribe to emails to hear about the next month's chosen nonprofits, see how much of an impact Calico Corner customers made, and of course, be notified of sales and events.
